CA to require green cleaning
SACRAMENTO —
Global Green
USA Thursday released its
Green Schools Report touting the multiple financial, health,
academic and environmental benefits of environmentally sustainable
buildings — including integrated pest management (IPM), indoor air
quality (IAQ) programs, and green cleaning practices — for education
facilities, according to a Business Wire press release on
Forbes.com.
It also urged the California Legislature to pass and the Governor to
sign the
Green Schools Bill (AB315), which would require the State
Allocation Board to consider the
Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS)
Best Practices Guide when creating requirements for janitorial,
IPM, IAQ, and maintenance procedures.
According to the press release, IAB315 has passed all assembly and
one of two senate committees, and awaits approval by the Senate
Appropriations Committee set for hearing on August 15.
